Broadlands Main Lake is a well-established 26-acre venue, that offers everything you could wish to find in a carp fishery, from central islands to marginal overhangs, humps, gulleys and more this is one venue that will certainly test your watercraft and further your fishing abilities. Fed from the famous Chalk Stream River Test, there is an abundance of natural food and vegetation that provide the carp, tench, bream and silver fish plenty of cover as well as good amounts of food and water quality to hit specimen weights.
– Carp to over 40lb
– Tench to 8lb
– Bream to 17lb
– Pike to over 32lb
With depths ranging from 1ft to over 10ft in places, there are also several secluded bays that allow you to get up close and personal with your quarry. If you prefer fishing medium to long range there are also several swims that suit this style, regardless of how you prefer to fish, the Main Lake has it all. Fishing can be tricky at times, but the rewards are there to be had, with several fish regularly topping over the magical mid-thirties mark. With a good number of carp over 30lb and an incredible number of fish over 20lb, as well over 4,000 double-figure carp banked in one year alone, prolific and manic sessions can be enjoyed if you get it right on the day. Anglers have done extremely well over the years utilising a multitude of tactics to single out the carp, from fishing heavily baited areas or single bite tactics on multiple rods including PVA bags, or boilie stringers. The Tench are renowned for showing up in the early hours of Dawn, watching out for pinprick bubbles and splashes, and fishing with groundbaits, maggots or small boilies can produce the goods. If you are after the bream, fishing with pellets can often bring thick and fast action with regular baiting keeping the shoal in front of you, giving you the chance for a fish of a lifetime! For the predator angler, the Pike season begins on October 1st and runs through to March 31st. Anglers who have used static sea baits have often done well, fishing to the deeper water.
